Book forecasts crash in housing

John R. Talbott’s new book The Coming Crash in the Housing Market makes a case that we are in a residential housing bubble, and offers some steps that home owners might take to protect themselves from what he sees as an inevitable fallout.  To his credit, he sees what very few analysts of the housing market see - that the government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are the chief culprits in driving the bubble.   The book is an easy read.  Talbott does a good job pulling together a lot of statistics to make his points.

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
