Austrians Rule Kindle List

Austrian economists dominate the Money and Monetary Policy bestseller list for Kindle downloads. Mises’s The Theory of Money and Credit is ensconced in 2nd place. Friedman and Schwartz’s A Monetary History of the United States is in 4th place sandwiched between Rothbard’s The Case Against the Fed in 3rd place and Mises’s Human Action in 5th place. Another Rothbard book, What Has Government Done to our Money sits at 13, well ahead of Keynes’s General Theory at 20 and former Fed Vice Chair Alan Blinder’s The Theory and Practice of Central Banking at 25.

This is just another illustration that Austrians need not soft pedal their policy advocacy in order to be taken seriously as economic theorists in the public intellectual arena.

Hat tip to George Smith.

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
