Bork: Put Back the Berlin Wall

Bork: Put Back the Berlin Wall

Robert Bork is quoted by the Washington Times on his reaction when he saw popular culture appear in the old East Germany: “You almost began to want to put the wall back up.”

No, this comment is not fecitious; it reflects the heart of conservative-style central planning (see Hoppe on this). Keep in mind that this is the man who is considered to be a leading figure among today’s conservative intellectuals—something to think about in light of round 3,432 of the conservative-libertarian debate.

(Via Cafe Hayek, which praises the Democrats for keeping this man off the Supreme Court.)

What is the Mises Institute?

The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.

Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
