This is what “intellectual property” has come down to: the right to stop all forms of innovation. Consider Kindle 2, which has a text to voice feature. The “Authors Guild” (yes, guild, as in the middle ages) says no no, the voice is a derivative right under copyright law. Such sounds must not be heard.
