Writes a friend: “I thought this letter might gladen your heart”:
“Dear Grandfather, my job at the music store has ben going great. It’s amazing how my attitude towards the work has changed since being introduced to free market-Austrian economics. I understand the nature of exchange much more clearly now, and I understand that 1) when I exchange my labor for a wage, that it is a consentual agreement, and 2) when customers exchange their money for our goods, it is because they value our goods more than their money (and vice versa). I used to be influenced by the wrong-headed notion that people were being ripped-off by the business. Since understanding the mutual gain of exchange, my attitude at work has become much more positive, and I enjoy it more. So I would really like to thank you for introducing me to Mises; he has really improved my life.”
