Otherwise the store front that the tracking software created for me might not have alerted me to the existence of the first complete season of the Jetsons on DVD. That’s 24 episodes illustrating that technological advance is thrilling and meritorious without being fundamentally revolutionary to society and human nature. In any case, this illustrates a crucial point about technology and “privacy”: when the private sector is spying on you (if you want to call it that) it is generally in order to serve you better; when the public sector is doing it, it is to prepare you for prosecution.
