“The ways of government are unknowable to man”. Somebody must have said that over the past 5000 years. In fact it must have been stated every five minutes by anybody who thought about government. Socrates, Aristotle, Hume, Locke, even Ronald Reagan. Maybe even David Bronner. Know him? You should — he runs the Alabama Pension Program and he just gave away 4 million of your money (I assume you’re an honest Libertarian, who pays his taxes.)
The 4 mill goes to clean up a rundown plaza in New York. One of many. But I’m wondering if you the taxpayer got a reward in the mail for your generosity. No? Well, David did. He received the Honoree of the Year award for HIS 4 mill gift They gave him a free meal in the City and made speeches praising his generosity. You and me probably paid his air fare — I’m hoping he went economy class. See, Dave bought an office buiding on this plaza (with your money) and he wanted the plaza looking neat. It probably needed sweeping and a few bushes cut back.
What I want to know is why we taxpaying Alabamians didn’t get an award. Maybe a short letter to the award committee reminding them of who really ponied up that money would help. Ah, that’s silly. Why is it that only politicians are rewarded and get free meals for giving away somebody else’s money?
