SARS and Liberty

There are a few things to keep in mind here. The SARS virus has been spreading in a communist country that has a very primitive and deplorable system of heath care, especially in the rural areas, where the epidemic is the worst. Also, the communists there have responded in a way that one would expect from people of such persuasion. While I am not her biggest fan, Claudia Rosett has written a decent piece on it for the Wall Street Journal. Michael Fumento also has an outstanding article on the SARS crisis.
