Decentralization and Secession

Voting is controversial among Austro-Libertarians for many reasons. However, if one does choose to vote, one should understand that the state is never constrained by the voters and cannot be “reformed.”

While men like Murray Rothbard and Ludwig von Mises believed in “just” war, nonetheless, they did not believe that wars lead to “just” outcomes, as war leads to destruction of civilization. The outcome of the American war of secession proved that point eloquently.

The images coming out of Latin America are hard to ignore.

Interventionists often claim that market economies naturally lead to monopolies, which mean there is no more economic competition. However, within market processes, there always is competition unless government authorties themselves block it.

Would America’s federal government deliberately undermine recovery efforts to try to achieve its own desired political ends? Of course.

Modern historians romanticize the reign of the Tudors in England, but in reality, they were brutal to their subjects and they centralized power to the detriment of the people. Governments today continue this march against freedom.

One of the outcomes of the American Civil War was the movement toward centralization of political power in Washington. The Reconstruction regime imposed upon the former Confederate states following the war was an overt attempt to further impose federal power there.
